At a distinguished arts festival in Morocco — organized by a forward-thinking cultural institution — I had the privilege of meeting Liam Iman, the Algerian artist whose talent defies categories: singer, composer, percussionist, and Reiki practitioner.
Her journey reads like a poetic tale of migration and healing. Graduating in 2012 from an arts school with a specialization in interactive performance and choreography, Liam has since explored the intersections of migration, belonging, and inner repair through her music and performance.
Since 2005, she has worked on artistic projects across Europe and Tunisia. In 2017, she won the music award at the international feminist festival Chouftouhonna in Tunisia for her solo act. Now based in Berlin, Liam is currently working on her solo debut album, which weaves together her life’s many threads.
A Powerful Presence on the Moroccan Stage
Her presence at the Moroccan festival is deeply symbolic — it is not simply a performance, but a bridge between Maghrebi cultures, between art and identity. The festival organizers are offering Liam a platform that transcends national borders, embodying a bold vision of cultural inclusion and artistic engagement.
During our conversation, Liam spoke of her dual heritage — Algerian Kabyle roots and European residence — her spiritual commitment through Reiki, and her desire to heal with sound. Her performances are not just concerts: they are rituals, where voice, body, and emotion merge in poetic continuity.
An Artistic and Spiritual Alchemy
For Liam, music is more than art — it’s therapy. Reiki is not just a practice — it’s a way of being. She crafts melodies that heal inner wounds, turning the stage into a sacred space for exchange and renewal.
Her hybrid identity — grounded in her Kabyle origins yet open to the world — gives her a universal voice. Her compositions and performances transcend boundaries and serve as a living bridge between North Africa and Europe.
An Invitation to Hope and Inspiration
When you listen to Liam, you don’t just hear a singer — you feel a voice bearing a profound message: art can unite, heal, and restore the sense of belonging. Her performance in Morocco, under the auspices of a visionary festival organizer, is a call: may each of us listen, resonate, and let sound transform our hearts.
