Egypt celebrates the 74th anniversary of the Battle of Ismailia and Police Day

Egypt officially celebrated Police Day a few days ago, which falls on January 25th each year.

In 2026, 74 years will pass since the commemoration of the Battle of Ismailia (east of Egypt at the Suez Canal), that immortal event in the history of Egyptian nationalism, when the Egyptian policemen in 1952 refused the ultimatum of the British occupation forces to surrender, hand over weapons and leave for Cairo, raising the slogan of dignity and honor, despite their small number and weak armament, as dozens of them fell as martyrs and wounded, January 25th of each year remains a testament to the bravery and sacrifices of the Egyptian police.

During the official ceremony attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on this occasion, the guard of honor performed the military salute, and the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt was played. Then President Sisi went to the memorial to lay a wreath of flowers, and the music played the Martyr’s Salute, and then he shook hands with senior state officials and members of the Supreme Police Council.
