The Egyptian Cabinet’s Media Center published a statement on its official social media platforms, clarifying the truth about what was circulated on some social media sites regarding the Arab Republic of Egypt’s import of Israeli dates.
The media center explained that, in contact with the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, it was stated that this news has no relation to the truth, as the Israeli origin is not an approved origin for Egypt to import palm products, especially dates.
The ministry stressed that fresh dates are only imported into Egypt in limited quantities from approved sources for varieties that are not widely distributed in Egypt, while dry or semi-dry dates are imported outside of production seasons, mainly to cover the industry’s needs for raw materials.
The ministry pointed out that Egypt ranks first in the world in date production with a quantity exceeding 2 million tons, and has about 24 million palm trees. In light of the national projects, the Ministry of Agriculture has succeeded in increasing the volume of exports, and work is underway to open new markets for Egypt’s date exports.
The ministry reviewed a statement on Egypt’s date imports during 2025, which were led by Saudi Arabia with a quantity of 21,494 tons, followed by Iraq with 5,522 tons, Libya with 1,583 tons, Jordan with 620 tons, Syria with 204 tons, Sudan with 15 tons, and the UAE with 1,721 tons, totaling 29,439 tons.
The Egyptian Ministry confirmed that this news is aimed at launching a systematic campaign against Egyptian agricultural exports, especially with the approach of major international exhibitions, such as the “Fruit Logistica” exhibition in Berlin 2026, following the success in exporting more than 9.5 million tons for the first time, noting that the Ministry of Agriculture continues to work on enhancing the smooth movement of Egyptian agricultural exports to various countries of the world.
