Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Monday, Anadolu has reported. Together they stressed the need for continuous humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
“The two leaders expressed concern regarding the possible expansion of the violence to the region while reiterating [their] categorical rejection of the liquidation of the Palestinian issue through the forced displacement of the people of Gaza,” said the Egyptian Presidency. “There was agreement between Egypt and Malaysia regarding the necessity of coordinating efforts to stop the escalation and achieve calm, as well as providing the necessary protection for Palestinian civilians.”

Al-Sisi and Ibrahim apparently confirmed their belief that the only way out of the current crisis is for the international community to make efforts to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue. “This should be on the basis of ‘two states’ and in accordance with the terms of reference of international legitimacy in a manner that preserves the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.”
Earlier on Monday, a third convoy of humanitarian aid entered the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing. The first convoy included 20 trucks, while the second had 14 trucks. On a normal day, around 500 trucks enter Gaza to meet local requirements.
