Erdogan calls on Israel to stop Gaza attacks

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday called on Israel to stop its attacks on Gaza, which he described as amounting to genocide and urged the international community to work to reach a humanitarian ceasefire in the region.

In a post on X, Erdogan said the increasing attacks on Gaza would bring “nothing but more pain, death and tears,” adding: “Instead of turning back from its mistake in Gaza and acting with reason, the Israeli administration is instigating non-regional actors.”

Erdogan also noted: “Our region needs to be saved as soon as possible from this frenzy of insanity, encouraged by Western countries and in which Western media organisations.”

“I reiterate our call to the Israeli administration never to expand the scope of its attacks against civilians and to immediately stop its operations that amount to genocide,” urged Erdogan, adding that Ankara is working to end the fighting between the Israelis and Palestinians before it reaches “the point of no return.”
