His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and head of the Egyptian Orthodox Church, has returned to Cairo after undergoing a successful operation in Austria.

According to the official Facebook page of the Coptic Orthodox Church, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II arrived at the papal residence in Cairo on saturday evening. He was received upon arrival by members of the Holy Synod of the Church, with whom he exchanged greetings, Then they proceeded with His Holiness to the reception hall amidst an atmosphere charged with feelings of affection, love and joy at the safety and recovery of the father and shepherd.

The Pope also noted that doctors advised him to take a period of rest after his return to Cairo until the end of February, and indicated that he is grateful for the feelings of love shown by the Metropolitans, Bishops, Priests, Monks, Nuns, Deacons, Servants and members of the Church everywhere through telephone calls, messages and all means of communication.
His Holiness the Pope also expressed his gratitude and thanks to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for his telephone call, as well as to Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, the ministers, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed al-Tayeb, Dr. Nazir Ayad, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, the heads of authorities and institutions, and all national figures who showed sincere love in their calls and messages.
