Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, in a post on his official social media pages, called on the National Elections Authority to thoroughly investigate the events and appeals submitted regarding the parliamentary election process in some districts where there was competition between individual candidates and The decisions should be made in a way that honestly reveals the true will of the voters, and the commission should not hesitate to make the right decision when the will of the voters cannot be achieved, whether by completely cancelling the first stage of the elections, or by partially canceling it in one or more electoral districts, provided that the elections for them are held later.
Al-Sisi also asked the National Elections Authority to announce the measures taken regarding the violations it has received related to election campaigning, so that effective oversight of this campaigning is achieved, and it does not go outside its legal framework, and is not repeated in the remaining election rounds.
Examination and verification of complaints
During a press conference held by the National Elections Authority, Judge Hazem Badawy, head of the National Elections Authority, emphasized the complete commitment to the integrity and transparency of the electoral process. He stressed that the board of directors of the commission, in its entire formation, is still examining and investigating the complaints and grievances that have been received by the commission, whether from candidates, voters, or observers, stressing that the right decision will be taken within the framework of the law, even if it leads to the cancellation of the entire electoral process or in some districts, assuring everyone that no representative will come under the dome of parliament except by the will of the voters.
Results of the first stage will be announced today
The National Elections Authority is scheduled to announce the results of the first phase of the parliamentary elections at a press conference today, Tuesday, to be held at the Egyptian Television Theater in Maspero at 2:00 PM Cairo time, according to the announced timetable. The names of the winners, the results of the appeals, and what has been done regarding all the complaints submitted will be announced.
