The Prime Minister Represents His Majesty at the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Provence Landings

Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch represented His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Provence landings, which took place today, Thursday, in San Rafael (southeast France), under the presidency of French President Emmanuel Macron.

This historical event is part of the celebrations organized by France to revive memories of international significance, where tributes were paid to the souls of 350,000 soldiers who landed on August 15, 1944, in Provence, among whom were many Moroccan soldiers who participated in these important military operations.

The Ambassador of His Majesty in Paris, Samira Sitail, was also present at the ceremony, where commemorative speeches were delivered to express gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices of the soldiers who fought for freedom. The occasion was marked by President Macron awarding honors to three veterans who served alongside the Allies during World War II, including Moroccan Arab Jawa, who received the Order of the Legion of Honor at the rank of Knight, in recognition of his bravery and contributions.

These celebrations illustrate the historical and cultural ties between Morocco and France and reflect the deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Moroccan soldiers for freedom and peace. The commemoration of this anniversary also demonstrates the commitment of both countries to acknowledge their shared past and strengthen their cooperation in the future.
