This issue has become increasingly contentious, especially with the approach of Eid al-Adha for two consecutive years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"990\" data-end=\"1244\">But why is there such resistance to opening an official parliamentary inquiry?<br data-start=\"1068\" data-end=\"1071\" \/><strong data-start=\"1071\" data-end=\"1116\">Does transparency threaten the executive?<\/strong><br data-start=\"1116\" data-end=\"1119\" \/>And has the constitutional tool of parliamentary oversight become a <strong data-start=\"1187\" data-end=\"1244\">litmus test for the credibility of government action?<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1251\" data-end=\"1354\"><strong data-start=\"1255\" data-end=\"1354\">Fact-Finding Commission or Exploratory Mission: A Matter of Procedure or Political Maneuvering?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1356\" data-end=\"1582\">While the opposition demands the creation of a <strong data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"1438\">binding fact-finding commission<\/strong>, the majority suggests a &#8220;fact-finding mission&#8221; \u2014 a move widely seen as an attempt to <strong data-start=\"1525\" data-end=\"1560\">water down the scope and impact<\/strong> of any investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1584\" data-end=\"1806\">So we must ask: <strong data-start=\"1600\" data-end=\"1637\">What is the government afraid of?<\/strong><br data-start=\"1637\" data-end=\"1640\" \/>Is it the potential lack of accurate data, or the fear that a probe might expose <strong data-start=\"1721\" data-end=\"1755\">possible conflicts of interest<\/strong> between certain officials and livestock importers?<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1813\" data-end=\"1873\"><strong data-start=\"1817\" data-end=\"1873\">How Much Public Money Was Spent \u2014 and Who Benefited?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1875\" data-end=\"2152\">Available reports show that the government granted <strong data-start=\"1926\" data-end=\"1956\">tax and customs exemptions<\/strong>, in addition to <strong data-start=\"1973\" data-end=\"1993\">direct subsidies<\/strong> to importers of sheep destined for Eid al-Adha slaughter in both 2023 and 2024. The total cost of these measures is said to reach <strong data-start=\"2124\" data-end=\"2151\">several billion dirhams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2154\" data-end=\"2195\">Yet critical questions remain unanswered:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2196\" data-end=\"2465\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2196\" data-end=\"2238\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2198\" data-end=\"2238\"><strong data-start=\"2198\" data-end=\"2236\">Who were the actual beneficiaries?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2239\" data-end=\"2303\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2241\" data-end=\"2303\"><strong data-start=\"2241\" data-end=\"2301\">Were transparency and equal access principles respected?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2304\" data-end=\"2378\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2306\" data-end=\"2378\"><strong data-start=\"2306\" data-end=\"2376\">Did the subsidies have a real impact on meat prices for consumers?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2379\" data-end=\"2465\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2381\" data-end=\"2465\"><strong data-start=\"2381\" data-end=\"2465\">Were the subsidies truly targeted toward the vulnerable populations as intended?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2472\" data-end=\"2529\"><strong data-start=\"2476\" data-end=\"2529\">Political Showmanship or Defense of Public Funds?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2531\" data-end=\"2801\">According to opposition parties \u2014 including the PPS, the Popular Movement (MP), and the Justice and Development Party (PJD) \u2014 the subsidy program has turned into a <strong data-start=\"2695\" data-end=\"2729\">grey area of public management<\/strong>, one that requires <strong data-start=\"2749\" data-end=\"2800\">full transparency and independent investigation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2803\" data-end=\"3074\">While the Prime Minister has dismissed the initiative as \u201cpolitical posturing\u201d and accused the opposition of lying, the opposition insists that the <strong data-start=\"2951\" data-end=\"3025\">most effective constitutional tool to distinguish truth from falsehood<\/strong> is through a proper <strong data-start=\"3046\" data-end=\"3073\">fact-finding commission<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3081\" data-end=\"3132\"><strong data-start=\"3085\" data-end=\"3132\">Crisis of Trust or Struggle for Legitimacy?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3134\" data-end=\"3410\">This affair \u2014 marked by accusations, denials, and a widening credibility gap \u2014 reflects a deeper <strong data-start=\"3231\" data-end=\"3250\">crisis of trust<\/strong> in the institutional mechanisms of governance. It raises broader concerns about <strong data-start=\"3331\" data-end=\"3409\">how major policy decisions related to food security are made and monitored<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3412\" data-end=\"3613\">So the question remains:<br data-start=\"3436\" data-end=\"3439\" \/><strong data-start=\"3439\" data-end=\"3519\">Will the ruling coalition show the political will to support a real inquiry?<\/strong><br data-start=\"3519\" data-end=\"3522\" \/>Or will continued avoidance only deepen <strong data-start=\"3562\" data-end=\"3612\">public skepticism and suspicions of favoritism<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3620\" data-end=\"3852\"><strong data-start=\"3623\" data-end=\"3638\">Conclusion:<\/strong><br data-start=\"3638\" data-end=\"3641\" \/>The opposition may lack executive power, but it holds a <strong data-start=\"3697\" data-end=\"3747\">powerful card \u2014 the legitimacy of public trust<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"3748\" data-end=\"3751\" \/>And if the government refuses transparency, it risks <strong data-start=\"3804\" data-end=\"3851\">validating the very doubts it seeks to deny<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When the opposition labels the livestock subsidy program as \u201cdeceitful,\u201d and the Head of Government responds with accusations of \u201clies\u201d\u2026 is a fact-finding commission a necessity or a clash of political wills?
