In line with the directives of Egypt\u2019s political leadership and the commitment of the General Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces to strengthening the country\u2019s leading role in promoting international peace and security, as well as advancing training, education, and capacity building in United Nations peace operations, the Liaison Agency with International Organizations, affiliated with Egypt\u2019s Military Intelligence Authority, has concluded the second edition of the international training course on \u201cProtection of Civilians in UN Peace Operations and International Migration Law\u201d.<\/p>\n
The course was organized in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a United Nations agency, and with the support of the European Union.<\/p>\n
According to the spokesperson for the Egyptian Armed Forces, the program attracted significant international interest and brought together 31 participants representing the ministries of defense, interior, and foreign affairs from a number of friendly and sisterly countries, alongside representatives of UN missions and international organizations. The course also featured a distinguished group of international experts and trainers from specialized training centers around the world, as well as officials from the United Nations Secretariat.<\/p>\n
The comprehensive training program addressed a broad range of topics related to the protection of civilians in conflict zones and international migration law. It included specialized lectures, interactive panel discussions, practical exercises, and field simulation activities conducted in cooperation with the Paratroopers Command. The curriculum was designed to strengthen participants\u2019 analytical, planning, and decision-making skills, thereby enhancing the capabilities of personnel nominated to serve in United Nations peace operations.<\/p>\n
The initiative forms part of the ongoing efforts of the Egyptian Armed Forces and the Liaison Agency with International Organizations to deepen cooperation with international organizations, specialized institutions, and training centers worldwide, while reinforcing Egypt\u2019s position as a regional and international center of excellence in training, education, and capacity development.<\/p>\n
At the conclusion of the course, participants and international experts expressed their appreciation for the Liaison Agency with International Organizations, commending the high standards of organization, preparation, and the academic and practical content of the program.
