The complaints against the lawmaker, who supports the Polisario Front’s positions, place the management of her parliamentary team under scrutiny and raise questions about internal oversight within her party.

Within two days, complaints concerning Tesh Sidi moved from one party-level body to another internal mechanism within Sumar. On 20 October 2026, former members of the lawmaker’s team reportedly filed a complaint with the committee responsible for the code of ethics and statutes of Más Madrid. The following day, another complaint was reportedly submitted to Sumar’s complaints mechanism, according to Spanish media reports.

The case does not concern a political disagreement in Parliament. It centres on allegations about working conditions within the lawmaker’s team, including humiliation, professional pressure and working hours said to have exceeded the expected limit. The complainants’ claims that they had previously raised concerns with party officials broaden the issue: scrutiny now extends beyond the conduct alleged against the lawmaker to the way the organisation may have handled earlier complaints.

Filing a complaint, however, does not establish guilt. Nor does it prove that the party ignored earlier warnings. At this stage, the published information rests on accounts from former team members, alongside statements attributed to party sources challenging the credibility of the allegations. The facts must be assessed against the available evidence.

A small team and multiple communication channels

According to La Razón and other Spanish media outlets, three former staff members accuse Sidi of behaviour they describe as authoritarian, hostile and humiliating. They refer to contradictory instructions, repeated belittling of staff and alleged insults directed at team members in their absence.

One aspect of the complaint concerns the organisation of work. The team, which reportedly consisted of around six people, used between 20 and 30 Telegram groups to coordinate tasks and exchange information, according to the complainants. They also allege that work-related messages regularly arrived outside working hours, with an expectation of a response, and that their working week exceeded 37.5 hours without additional compensation.

These claims can be examined through messages, time records and employment contracts. Their legal classification as workplace harassment, however, requires an assessment of the nature, frequency and context of the alleged conduct, followed by comparison with the applicable rules. An excessive workload does not, by itself, establish harassment. Nor does the existence of numerous communication groups automatically amount to a violation; the relevant questions concern how they were used and what was expected of staff.

The complainants say the working conditions affected their personal lives and that some required sick leave or specialist mental-health support. Press reports have referred to medical documents said to support part of their account. The existence of a health problem, however, does not by itself establish its cause or determine the responsibility of any particular individual.

Reports also refer to five different people who allegedly began and ended their work as technical advisers to Sidi during 2025. If confirmed through recruitment and departure records, these figures could help clarify staff turnover and the team’s working environment. They do not, on their own, prove that the departures resulted from mistreatment. The reasons for each departure would need to be established, and the individuals concerned heard.

What did the party leadership know?

The most sensitive aspect of the case concerns the steps that former staff members say they took before filing the recent complaints. According to published reports, they raised concerns with Más Madrid officials during 2025 and sought intervention over conditions they considered harmful.

If it is established that those complaints reached the appropriate party bodies, scrutiny would extend to the response: Were the reports recorded? Were the people involved heard? Were steps taken to verify the allegations or protect the staff members concerned? If the earlier complaints cannot be shown to have reached the relevant officials, or were not submitted to the bodies authorised to handle them, the assessment of organisational responsibility would need to reflect that.

La Razón reports that party sources have questioned the credibility of the allegations, including because the complaints were reportedly submitted anonymously. Those sources have also raised the possibility that the case is connected to internal score-settling during an election period. But timing alone does not prove that a complaint is malicious, just as filing through internal channels does not automatically establish that its claims are true.

Published reports indicate that Más Madrid’s internal rules address insults and hostile behaviour and may provide for party sanctions if a breach is established. Any sanction would depend on the applicable provisions, the findings of the procedure and respect for the right of defence.

The real test for internal oversight mechanisms lies not simply in whether written rules exist, but in whether they are applied when a complaint concerns an elected lawmaker with a political position within the organisation. As of 25 October 2026, the available information does not establish that an investigation has reached a definitive conclusion or that Sidi’s responsibility has been proven.

Tesh Sidi and the Moroccan Sahara: Political positions opposed to Morocco’s territorial integrity

Interest in Tesh Sidi extends beyond the workplace complaints. A lawmaker affiliated with the Sumar coalition and politically associated with Más Madrid, she is among the voices supporting the Polisario Front’s separatist positions and opposing Spain’s shift towards backing Morocco’s autonomy initiative as a proposed basis for resolving the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

Born in the Tindouf camps in Algeria and trained as an engineer, Sidi has criticised the Spanish government’s support for the Moroccan initiative. Her public positions place her among Spanish political figures opposed to the shift in relations between Rabat and Madrid on the Sahara question.

For Moroccan national journalism, these positions warrant close scrutiny of her statements and parliamentary initiatives, as well as examination of the arguments she advances against Morocco’s proposal. The issue concerns the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and a diplomatic initiative that Morocco seeks to strengthen internationally. It should not be reduced to a passing dispute within Spanish party politics.

One of the legislative initiatives associated with her name concerns a proposed Spanish nationality law for people born in Western Sahara before 29 September 1977 and their direct descendants, subject to the conditions set out in the text.

On 10 September 2026, Spain’s Congress of Deputies approved the proposal by 168 votes to 31, with 145 abstentions, according to the published official voting figures. The text was subsequently referred to the Senate for the continuation of the legislative process.

The initiative illustrates the continuing role of Spain’s colonial legacy in political and legislative debates concerning the Sahara, as well as efforts to address some of its consequences through nationality provisions. Assessing its legal and political implications for Spain’s position on the dispute requires examination of the full text, its legislative progress and its final form, rather than conclusions drawn before the process is complete.

Sidi’s positions on the Moroccan Sahara are legitimate subjects for political and media criticism, as are other public positions affecting Morocco’s territorial integrity. But those positions do not prove the workplace allegations against her. Conversely, the existence of a complaint does not remove the need to examine her public political statements and the initiatives she supports.

Between workplace accountability and political confrontation

The case is unfolding on two distinct levels. The first concerns verifiable matters: messages, working hours, testimony from former staff and the party’s handling of earlier complaints. The second concerns Sidi’s positions on the Moroccan Sahara, which should be examined through political and legal arguments and documented public statements.

The two dimensions may intersect in public debate, but conflating them would weaken the assessment of each. If workplace misconduct is established, responsibility must be determined under the applicable rules. If it is not established, the complaint must not be treated as a conviction. At the same time, the absence of a final decision in the workplace case does not prevent scrutiny of the lawmaker’s public political positions concerning Morocco’s territorial integrity.

For now, published reports establish that complaints have been filed and that their credibility is disputed. They do not establish Sidi’s responsibility conclusively. The handling of the internal procedure, and the transparency with which the allegations are examined, will help determine whether the case remains a workplace dispute or develops into a wider organisational crisis within Más Madrid.

Professional Harassment Allegations Against Tesh Sidi: Could the Complaint Trigger a Crisis Within Más Madrid?
