{"id":706,"date":"2023-05-17T16:07:33","date_gmt":"2023-05-17T16:07:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diplomatique.ma\/en\/?p=706"},"modified":"2023-05-18T16:11:11","modified_gmt":"2023-05-18T16:11:11","slug":"saudi-arabia-to-open-embassy-in-eswatini","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diplomatique.ma\/en\/saudi-arabia-to-open-embassy-in-eswatini\/","title":{"rendered":"Saudi Arabia to open embassy in Eswatini"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Saudi Arabia has announced the establishment of a full-fledged embassy in the Kingdom of Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, a tiny landlocked country in Southern Africa with a population of slightly more than a million people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The announcement was made by Saudi Arabia&#8217;s Royal Court Advisor Ahmed Qattan during his meeting with King Mswati III on Tuesday evening, in which the strengthening of bilateral relations was also discussed, explained Eswatini&#8217;s Foreign Affairs Minister Thuli Dladla in the capital Mbabane on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;We have received His Majesty and the important issues were discussed with the king concerning improvement in the relationship in all aspects,&#8221; Qattan was quoted by the minister as saying. &#8220;The king has been informed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has approved the construction of an embassy building in the Kingdom of Eswatini.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"gKyBMRCjD9\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/diplomatique.ma\/en\/2023\/05\/17\/israeli-flag-march-in-jerusalem-to-fuel-tension-palestine\/\">Israeli &#8216;flag march&#8217; in Jerusalem to fuel tension: Palestine<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Israeli &#8216;flag march&#8217; in Jerusalem to fuel tension: Palestine&#8221; &#8212; diplomatic\" src=\"https:\/\/diplomatique.ma\/en\/2023\/05\/17\/israeli-flag-march-in-jerusalem-to-fuel-tension-palestine\/embed\/#?secret=Yqooq1QmrO#?secret=gKyBMRCjD9\" data-secret=\"gKyBMRCjD9\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eswatini has strong bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dladla pointed out. &#8220;We would like to reaffirm the bonds that exist between us as kingdoms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Qattan&#8217;s role in the country is not new, as he has always played an important role in improving relations, the Communications Manager in the King&#8217;s Office, Percy Simelane, told\u00a0<i>Anadolu<\/i>\u00a0in a telephone interview.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">When Eswatini was in political turmoil in March last year, Qattan arrived and delivered what the government claimed was a special message from the Saudi king.
