In an exclusive interview with Cultural Diplomacy Magazine, Moroccan actress Nesrine Radi reflects on her distinctive experience in the film “The Distant Sea,” proving that even a seemingly small role can carry deep emotional and artistic weight.
“My role may have few scenes,” she explains, “but it holds a powerful inner journey. The character I portray leads the father to rediscover his greatest treasure—his daughter. This realization is what truly drives the emotional core of the film.”
Speaking about her international journey, Radi adds:
“I have lived and worked abroad, but my heart and artistic world remain deeply rooted in Morocco. Every international experience adds depth to who I am, but it never erases my identity.”
On working with Italian filmmakers and French actress Fanny Ardant, she says:
“It was a meeting of experience and creative energy. A true dialogue between cultures, resulting in a performance shaped by shared humanity.”
Radi also expressed her pride in Morocco’s national football team:
“We have a young and strong team, and we are very proud of them. Winning and losing are part of sport, but pride in one’s identity and country is permanent.”
She concludes with a heartfelt message to Moroccans:
“Let us be proud of who we are and of our values. Moroccan cinema is asserting its place on the global stage, and The Distant Sea is a living testament to that.”
